The Recorder acts as the custodian of land records in the county and is responsible for recording and processing of legal documents related to real estate. The documents include all varietions of deeds, patents, plats, contacts for deed, mortgages, assignments, satisfactions, releases, easements, highway right-of-way instruments, oil and gas leases, affidavits and other related documents.
The Recorder files personal property liens in the statewide Central Indexing System, which links 53 counties and the Secretary of State Office. Burial-transit permits and Wills are filed in the Recorder's Office.
